Sunday Morning Worship - Life in the Beginning

Jan 19, 2025    Jim LaBarr

***Due to a power outage in most of our building, this Sunday's worship was held in the community center, a last minute change pulled together by the incredible volunteers of Harvest Chapel. So while the audio and video might not have be as good as our typical Sunday live streams, the Lord was worshiped and the Spirit of God filled that room every bit as much as a typical Sunday, if not more!

Today we’re wrapping short series centered on those three famous words: In the Beginning. That exact phrase is found at the start of not one, but two books of the Bible. Genesis, the opening book of the Bible with its story of creation, and the gospel of John opens his story of Jesus with that same phrase. In the beginning. We have been digging into these words found in Genesis and John because how the story begins matters.

This seems particularly poignant at the outset of a new year. A new year is a natural opportunity for a new beginning. What can we learn from the biblical account of the beginning that might guide and instruct us at the start of a new year?
